Hey Everyone!
This week has been exactly what I expected it to be – and more. I wish yall could been here for these experiences, these people kill me! This is really a whole different world down here.
We had a baptism on Saturday that I had nothing to do with. haha
Transfers will do that to you.
Here in Waco their streets are for the most part a grid system,
but…..slanted 45 degrees to the east….When someone says, “North
Waco” its actually east. Texas does not understand construction! We were driving to an appointment and the GPS told us to go down a street we found to be a dead-end. The GPS said it was a through street, but….it was a forrest right in the middle of the neighborhood! So we parked, walked down this trail, over a bridge (I felt like I was in
brazil or something) and up another trail. We eventually got to the
otherside and found the street ours was supposed to connect to… haha
We found train tracks in the middle of the road (inside the road) in a residential area that was only about 20 feet long… Huh? I could go
on forever! Some stories will have to be for after the mission…pretty weird stuff.
Weve been blessed with back to back lessons this whole week! Its been awesome! All of our referrals have turned out legit. except for one Ill tell shortly.
We were doing service and we got a call from Kenny! He said he was
studying the Book of Mormon and looking up words he didnt understand and said he is ready to be baptized! He said he doesnt have anymore concerns and will align his actions with the commandments and we set a date for him! So excited for him!
We had a referral that lives out a good 45 min away that we decided to contact one afternoon. We plugged the address into the GPS and went on our way. We soon were out in the middle of nowhere – passing fences with cows, grass, bushes, and cactus out on the freeway. Eventually our direction turned onto a gravel road and I was getting suspicious. “Our referral lives out HERE?!” we followed the GPS trusting that it was taking us where we needed to go. THEN our road turned into straight dirt! “Now hold on…” Elder Judy was just going for it. I was cool with it all (fun adventure) until we got to the cattle gate.
“What the stack?” I said, and Elder Judy got out of the car and opened the cattle gate. Following the plan is one thing, but driving a
minivan down a grassy trail is another thing! After driving down
the…trail? we got to a locked fence and turned around and headed
back. Enjoy our pictures and videos! hahah
Almost everyone we talk to will listen to us, it is the promised land.
We’ve been running hard and Im very excited for this transfer! Elder
Judy is awesome!
Thanks for everything, Love you all!
