Some crazy stuff I kinda forgot to mention last week: Elder Reed is from Gilbert and lives maybe 3 miles from yall! What the Hay Stacks!
This week has been so weird! Just trying to get used to the area, meeting people, trying to find find find….etc!
LakeCities area has been under construction so its been crazy trying to ride bikes through all the chaos – half the time it feels like were on a freeway!
Funny/sad moment: We had an elderly member come out with us and drive us to see people. Before we got into the car, he was standing there dumping a full waterbottle on his eye! ” Ive got something in my eye and it kills!” We got in the car and drove as he was rubbing his eye like crazy. We said we could just bike and he insisted on taking us. He said, “Y’all are just going to have to be my eyes! I really cant see!” So naturally I started on the prayers haha he eventually allowed us to go back to our apartment so he could figure out his eye problem. We think he got Slag in his eye from work… No Bueno!
So I found in our apartment storage closet 2 stacks of bluebell containers that go above my head! So….I wanted to add to it! Hehe Im converted to the way of Bluebell. Whala.
When eating over at some members home, Elder Reed told the kids my name was Elder Housekeeper behind my back. So theres about five kids runnin around with the wrong image! I instead told them Elder Reed’s name was Elder Book. Payback is ohhhhh so sweet. ;]
Friday we went over to the Robert’s home for dinner. He’s a Toro also! whoooo! Go Toros. Aparently there is some trend going on in the world where people get a bucket of Icewater on their heads, but since im not in Babylon, I didn’t know! hehe Just kidding. We were able to dump some buckets on the Roberts heads – you should have the video!
Aight, this should give you a picture of what this area is like:
We were headed to an Investigators home when we stopped by a guy painting his house number on the curb. We said, “Hey, Hows it goin’!” and he didn’t look up but said, “Im atheist, Go away.” and we said, “Alright, you have a great day!” We went across the street to see the investigator and went inside. When we were finished, we came outside to see a paper taped to our bikes. I attached a picture of it. When I first saw it I couldn’t tell if it was flippant, but then soon realized he was very apologetic. It was sweet! Nobody ever thinks twice about mean things they say to us.
Sunday was probably one of the coolest sacrament meetings Ive ever been to! I would call it a musical testimony meeting. A member would get up, say what hymn they wanted to sing and what verse and why this song has made an impact in their life. It was awesome! I loved that opportunity to sing so much! And yes, we joined the ward choir here!
I really am loving this area! We are being spoiled! But we wont let out slack. Im having a lot of fun with my current comp. We’re both goofs and it really makes the work a lot more fun. Ive just about been on the floor laughing at members homes with him – an experience about a special needs pug that kept running into the wall, another about a member telling his little kid to get us a little water and him literally giving us a cup with an inch of water. Good stuff.
On another note, I have officially hit my 5 month mark today! Its weird how fun’s time when your having flies! wait…
Thanks for the letters y’all! I love hearing from you.
Stay cool!
Love,
Elder Housekeeper.
