Howdy, Howdy!

This week has been difficult in the sense that we’re working hard, but almost no progress is being made… But there has been some funny moments that made it fantastic.

Last Monday for Labor day we were invited to a BBQ with some members and it was pretty good! Naturally we still sat at the “Kids table” with 10 kids under 10 yrs old haha (I guess i’ll never grow outta it!) We played telephone with them around the table and when it became my turn to pass a phrase on, I wanted to say, “The Standard of Truth has been erected….” and see what it ended up as! But I was nice enough to just pass on a tongue twister – they got off easy! :]
I went on an exchange with my Zone Leader (Elder Weaver) on tuesday! He was my Zone Leader in Arlington for my first 3 months, it was cool to be around him again – one of the most Christlike people I know. He told me of a couple experiences he had where things he had taught investigators or learned during the week were talked about in Lessons at church. He said, “Keep your eye out, it will happen to you EVERYTIME you go to church if you watch for them!” He also chased an Armadillo into some bushes, showed me a frog that has been trying to get out of the pool for months, got a picture with a horse, and went running in which made me wanna black out. Good stuff!
At our District meeting on wednesday, Elder Reed was showing us his perfect imitations of the “Prophet Peanut Butter Cup” Video and such! Soooo funny – especially Uchtdorf, fantastic. Theres also Elder Harris-Coons and he does a perfect Louie Armstrong impression (Voice, trumpet, wiping his forehead and all!) I was dying.
Thursday and Friday was full of biking around in the humid heat trying to contact Lessactive and Partmember families that Bishop asked us to, with no luck whatsoever. Actually we did find out a member moved so that we could let the bishop know…I think everybody we try to see is partying together! I dont understand how not one person we try by is home! Its a conspiracy – I know it.
Saturday we biked out into Lake Dallas from Corinth (where we live). I then totally felt my shirt pocket lighter than usual. I felt my pocket and I had my planner, my handbook, and my pen…Then I noticed that I didnt have a name tag! It was that weirdest feeling ever – Identity gone. Whats even more weird is that the name tag doesnt weigh like anything. Our plan was to continue into the next city Hickory Creek, so I attribute it the the spirit! We biked to the closest members home and they gave us a ride back to get it.
On Sunday we basically left our apartment for meetings at 9am and didnt get home until 9pm that night. Im ready to go bishop! just kidding, ill probably be bolted for that…during Gospel Principles, the teacher wasnt there so we were asked to teach it It was on the Lords Law of Health. We taught it on the fly and totally owned it. The spirit directed the thoughts well! And sure enough when we talked about a certain topic, 2 people commented and said that it was funny that we said that – it referred to something they had learned this week! I was like, “Elder Weaver is right!!”
I also gave the bishop a fast offering slip. Later during a priesthood fireside, a member of the bishopric came up to me, slapped his hand on my shoulder and said, “Sooo did you know that you didnt put any money in the slip today?” and I had no clue! he said, “At least it gave us all a good laugh!” Course I would give the bishop an envelope with nothing in it! Its good to feel dumb once in a while!
Ill update yall on investigators as we get some solid ones!
Here’s some great pictures to hold ya over till next week!
Love y’all!!
Elder Householder
