The Work of a Member

Howdy Howdy Howdy!!
This week has been a splendid one!
I had a newton like epiphany during a study this week! After the whiteboard fell off the wall and nailed me in the head, I gained the revelation, “You should use more screws!”
Elder Petersen and I have been having a great time here in the great ‘ol Grapevine! He has also served with Elder Reed so we have been having a blast sharing experiences and pictures we had with him. We also got to see him at the Mission Leadership Council on Friday! It was a blast – has made the “Top 5 Bestest friends” list by far.
We had a really sad experience this week knocking on a door. Elder Petersen noticed a minivan with an Idaho license plate! At the door, we talked to Megan. She moved from Idaho where she lived next door to members of the church for 4 years. When we asked, “Have you had a chance to hear the message we share?” When she responded with, “No, my neighbors didn’t tell me anything…” It broke our hearts! She already looked LDS! MEMBERS! YOU ARE MISSIONARIES!! It doesnt matter how shy you are! It doesnt matter if you, “Only have member friends,” You “Can’t share the gospel at work”? YES YOU CAN! How can we do these things that we dont think we can or are hard for us? PRAY. I believe Heavenly Father can provide a way for you to do the things which he commands! Do you? “After all that has been said, the greatest and most important duty is to preach the Gospel.” (Joseph Smith Jr.) You can do it, stop making excuses! Brothers and Sisters, you are wonderful sons and daughters of God – you are faithful in your callings, and have set the best example for me. We can all work together – lets do it :] When its hard, prayer will give you the strength. I promise it will if it is with real intent!
Monday we saw Sister Crow at the store shopping for our dinner the following day. She said we were doing a great job teaching her nonmember husband. We thanked her for the comment and I explained that most of the converting power is going to be within the walls of her home – she will make the biggest difference in helping him. I saw her eyes widen a little as she realized that WE werent the ones who help him most. Before then she hasnt really talked to him much about the church (although she’s active) hoping to not push him away. After that, we found that she was reading the Book of Mormon with him!! At dinner the following day, their fellowshippers (the Ellingsons) joined us as well. As we taught him more about the Book of Mormon, we were all able to bear firm testimony of it in our lives and how he could receive the same witness. It was all very natural and felt right. As we talked with the Ellingsons after the lesson, they said we did a great job, and yesterday they told us we can eat with them anytime we dont have a meal! (Ive only been to their home once).
We were able to get into a lessactive brothers home – Brother Lee this week whom the hometeachers havent been able to get into. We had a great lesson and he is allowing us to go back weekly to help him come back.
Had an Ammon service experience on Friday! We saw someone moving and we asked if we could help. Tiny almost cried saying she was going to go pick someone up from Grandprairie and bring them back to help them. She was just praising God the whole time! As we assembled her table in their home, one of them asked what we do, who were were, etc! We explained our beliefs and they invited us back, begging for our phone number! Im so excited!
A couple weeks ago we knocked on the door of Sister Tutt, a less active partmember who recently moved in. She didnt answer, but we left a card telling her to give us a call. Next time we tried by, she answered and let us in! She told us about her situation – she has been wanting to go back to church, but has been to afraid to tell her husband. The time we left a card, and was walking down the street, she pulled into her driveway and she saw us. She said then is when she got the courage to tell her husband! Fast forward 2 weeks and she came to church and bore her testimony yesterday! Sister Tutt is going to bring her husband into Bishops office and the 3 of us are going to answer his questions next sunday!!
In District Leader Council I told everone, “Zone Conference will be september 22 mid day!” I thought it was funny, but apparently nobody else got the movie quote…haha Its cool itll be on Jakes B-day!

Hey, I love yall bunches! Keep up the good work!Elder Householder
